details:

Packaging
Huppy’s products are nearly 100% compostable. Shipping boxed and refill pouches are both backyard compostable. The boxes are made with corrugated cardboard (and they claim that 96% of the material is supplied via sustainable forestry fiber sourcing), and the refill pouches are made from wood cellulose. All printing is plant-based/ soy-based. The only non-biodegradable element in packaging is the refill container itself, which is designed to store all refills and is made from aluminum (a forever recyclable).

Material Sustainability
Huppys tablet and mouthwash ingredients are exceedingly sustainable. They source many simple, plant-based ingredients, and many non-plant-based ingredients, including silicone-dioxide or silica, are more sustainable alternatives to harmful industry standards. For some natural ingredients like magnesium stearate (often derived from palm oil and entails heavy deforestation), Huppy specifies that their sourcing is RSPO-certified and sustainable. For toothbrushes, Huppy uses 100% Mosu bamboo and bristles made of castor bean oil. The bamboo is backyard compostable however, the bristles are industrially compostable and require removing.

Energy Use and Footprint
There is little to no publicly available data regarding energy use or carbon footprint. Huppy mentions carbon-neutral shipping but does not provide much detail about how this is accomplished or any third-party verification.

Waste Management
There is little to no publicly available data regarding waste management or mitigation strategies in production.

Business Model
The brand’s business model is incredibly slow, as they offer just a handful of products in total. These products are evergreen with minimal (essentially zero) churn and no seasonal, trend-driven, or limited edition products.
