Packaging
Battle Green’s product and shipping packaging is 100% plastic free. They use a combination of recycled, upcycled, or sustainably sourced cardboard boxes, shredded cardboard waste, and paper tape with a vegan & biodegradable adhesive. Exact specifics for this combination are not readily available, however. Battle Green joined the On-Pack Recycling Label (OPRL) scheme in 2024, and plans to provide specific information regarding the materials used and disposal instructions for their packaging. Much of their packaging is designed for refill and is compostable.
Material Sustainability
Battle Green’s formulations are comprised almost exclusively from low impact, plant-based ingredients, par some minor exceptions. These include geranium oil in some products (can be unsustainably farmed due to monoculture soil depletion) and grapeseed oil (better sourced organically due to the heavy pesticide use in cultivation). Other than these minor exceptions, Battle Green’s personal care ingredient sourcing is highly sustainable and carries a low environmental impact. The brand also incorporates a number of upcycled ingredients like coffee grounds, charcoal, and raspberry seeds, which reduces waste and promotes circularity.
Energy Use and Footprint
Battle Green’s products are made by hand in small batches, which limits their overal emissions when compared to others in the industry. Battle Green is a small business and carbon footprint reporting and mitigation strategy specifics are not yet available.
Waste Management
Much of Battle Green’s business model focuses on reusability and waste reduction. Battle Green is a small business and specific waste management strategies for production are not yet available.
Business Model
The brand offers an evergreen collection without seasonal or trend-driven items and with minimal product churn.

social responsibility

score:

7 out of 10
details:
Battle Green supports a number of charities, including Surfers Against Sewage to help clean beaches and seas. They partner with Ecologi to plant one tree for every zero-waste starter kit sold, which helps to offset any shipping related emissions. They are 100% cruelty-free and vegan. There is little information available regarding fair-labor practices, however as a small business that handmakes products in North Wales, Battle Green incurs very little risk of fair-labor violations.
