Packaging


Oasiis has eliminated plastic from both product and shipping packaging. The Massage Melt Starter Set includes a thick-walled glass jar (a forever recyclable) to hold the solid lotion bar. The On-The-Go Melt Stick comes in a compact tube that is also plastic-free (images suggest a biodegradable cardboard cylinder, but not specified*). The brand also uses shipping boxes and fillers made from 100% recycled material and avoids any unnecessary wrapping or plastic tape

Ingredient Sustainability


Oasiis’s formulas are composed entirely of plant-derived ingredients, which generally have a lower environmental footprint than petroleum-based or synthetic chemicals. The base ingredients – kokum butter, cocoa butter, mango butter, shea butter, argan oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil, and sunflower seed wax – are all renewable resources from plants. Importantly, the brand steers clear of problematic ingredients like palm oil, which contributes greatly to deforestation. Instead, Oasiis uses kokum and other exotic butters. Kokum butter, for example, is harvested from the seeds of the Garcinia indica tree (native to India) and is considered an eco-friendly crop – kokum trees thrive without need for pesticides or intensive irrigation.

The fragrances are from natural essential oils rather than synthetic aroma chemicals, so there are no persistent synthetic musks or phthalates (which can bioaccumulate) in the formula.

Oasiis has not published detailed information about each ingredient’s origin or certifications. We do not know, for example, if their cocoa butter is certified fair-trade or if the coconut oil comes from an organic, sustainable source. The absence of palm oil already sidesteps one major sustainability pitfall, but other ingredients like coconut and cocoa have their own social and environmental considerations


Energy Use and Footprint


As a small emerging brand, Oasiis has not published data on its energy consumption or carbon emissions. There is limited information on energy use in production, but we can infer a few things. The products are handmade in San Francisco, USA, likely in small batches, which means manufacturing is on a cottage industry scale rather than an energy-intensive factory. The Made-to-Order approach (producing in response to demand) also avoids the energy waste of making excess inventory that might go unsold.

The product format may confer some carbon efficiency in shipping: solid bars are more compact and lighter per use than water-filled lotions.


Waste Management


Oasiis integrates waste reduction into its product design and operations. On the production side, making items in small batches means less risk of overproduction. On the consumer end, Oasiis strongly encourages minimal waste and creative reuse. A great example is their guidance for when the Massage Melt bar becomes too small to use: they instruct customers to chop up the remnants and melt them into the empty stick container, effectively creating a new balm.


Business Model


Oasiis’s business model is built around mindful, long-term use rather than fast-turnover or trend-driven sales. The company launched with essentially one hero product (the Massage Melt) in a handful of scent variations, plus an accessory (the Melt Stick) – this is the opposite of a typical high-churn beauty brand that pumps out dozens of products and limited editions each season. Oasiis positions itself as a clean beauty brand, and the ingredient list supports this: there are no known toxic or hazardous chemicals in their formulations. In fact, Oasiis indicates that even the Unscented & Natural version of the Melt Stick is “lip-safe and food-safe,” so safe that one need not worry about “tiny, accidental licks”. The brand explicitly notes that the product is free from parabens, phthalates, sulfates, and “harsh chemicals.” It contains no artificial fragrance (a common source of allergens and phthalates) – scented versions use only 100% pure essential oils for fragrance. Essential oils, being natural, are not automatically irritation-free (they contain naturally occurring allergens like linalool or limonene in some cases), but Oasiis appears aware of sensitivities: the availability of an unscented option means those with very reactive skin or noses can opt out of any fragrant components.

Importantly, Oasiis is transparent about being 100% natural. This implies they use no synthetic silicones, no PEGs, no chemical sunscreens, etc. The result is a formulation that scores well on toxicity databases.

This suggests that the production is done in-house or locally, under U.S. labor regulations, which are generally strict about fair labor practices. By producing locally (as opposed to outsourcing to low-cost factories abroad), Oasiis is likely ensuring fair labor practices for the people making the products. It would strengthen Oasiis’s social responsibility profile if they clarified that their cocoa butter (and other global ingredients) are sourced in line with fair labor standards.
